Interested in Becoming a New Member?

Everyone is welcome here and membership is not required to worship with us.
But becoming a member is a way of saying, “This is my church family. I want to grow, serve, and follow Jesus with these people.”
Whether you are professing your faith in Christ for the first time or transferring your membership from another church or denomination, membership is a public commitment to follow Jesus and to be part of the mission and ministry of Hopewell United Methodist Church.

In The United Methodist Church, members make a commitment to support the church with their: Prayers · Presence · Gifts · Service · Witness

Prayers

Prayer is how we stay connected to God and to one another. When we promise to pray for the church, we’re promising to bring our joys, worries, and hopes to God, and to hold one another in prayer. The more we pray, the more we learn to love as God loves.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything…present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

Presence

Showing up matters. Membership means choosing to be part of a community that shows up for worship, for one another, and for the world.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2)

Gifts

While most people may associate gifts with money, sharing your spiritual gifts is also an important aspect of participating in Hopewell United Methodist Church. Being good stewards means sharing your talents and gifts with others. Your spiritual gifts, your time, your abilities, your creativity—all of these are ways you help build the body of Christ. Love children? Sing? Cook? Fix things? Pray? You have gifts we need. Not sure what your gifts are? We can help you discover them.

Service

To follow Jesus is to serve. Service looks like feeding, caring, supporting, speaking up, and stepping out in love.
“You will be my witnesses…to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

Witness

Witness is sharing your faith. Sometimes with words, often with your life.
At home, at school, at work, at the ballfield, your everyday life tells a story about what you believe.
Jesus said, “Come, follow me…and I will show you how to fish for people.” (Matthew 4:19)

Our search for a local Methodist church led us to Hopewell UMC. We immediately noticed how friendly and welcoming everyone was! We were very pleased with the wonderful music and meaningful, traditional services. It didn’t take long for us to decide to make this special church a central part of our spiritual lives by becoming members.
